Task 5 : TOWARDS AN IMPROVED REGIONAL CLIMATE SYSTEM MODEL TO BETTER ASSESS AND PROJECT SPECIFIC RISKS (INTENSE PRECIPITATION, DROUGHTS AND SEA LEVEL EVOLUTION) OF THE MEDITERRANEAN AREA

Objectives: Task 5 targets the improvement in the representation of the interfaces, and more precisely issues identified as blocking for the assessment and projection of the Mediterranean intense precipitation and floods, droughts and heat waves and sea level evolution: namely the vegetation and river feedbacks (tasks 5.2, 5.3), the intense air-sea exchanges and the SST diurnal cycle (task 5.4). This task will partly rely on new reference datasets (task 5.1); it also includes the quantification of the integrated improvement associated with the fully coupled RCSMs through both hindcast and scenarios simulations (task 5.5).
