Dataset Title IASI mission: Global high spectral resolution satellite observations of atmospheric composition
Dataset Purpose
Dataset Abstract The Infrared Atmospheric Sounding Interferometer is flying onboard MetOp-A (since 2006) and MetOp-B (2012). It is a CNES/Eumetsat instrument using a nadir view to sound the atmospheric state and composition, using the thermal infrared spectral range. More information about the IASI instrument and the MetOp satellites can be found on the dedicated sites of CNES and Eumetsat.
Acquisition Methodology IASI pixel is circular with a diameter of 12 km at nadir; 4 pixels are observed simultaneously in a square of side about 25 km at nadir. IASI onboard Metop-A is operational since 1 October 2007 to present. In 2012 Metop-B was launched in 2012, at it has been operational since 8 March 2013 to present
Quality The instrument is autocalibrated, which makes it a highly reliable sensor.

Access Constraints Freely available (after inscription) on the ETHER Website, one month after observation.
Use Constraints The IASI CO data have been processed at LATMOS using a retrieval code, FORLI (Fast Optimal Retrievals on Layers for IASI), developed at ULB (Université Libre de Bruxelles). - In case of a publication, if the paper makes an important use of IASI data, co-authorship should be offered. - Any use of the data for presentations should mention “CO data provided by LAMOS/CNRS and ULB". - We would be glad to have your feedback about the quality of the data, on the usefulness of the quality flags, and/or if you find anything that seems wrong or strange in the data files.
